Like Photoshop CS6, CS6 Extended, and CS6 for Mac, PS Elements features many of Photoshop’s powerful selection tools, filters, and color, tone, and sharpness adjustment options. But it gives newcomers a simpler entry point into the world of Photoshop’s editing features—and this is excellent news for fans of familiar tools. Like the other version of Photoshop, Photoshop Elements has a comprehensive set of selections, adjustments, and tools. However, it doesn’t include all of Photoshop’s marquee tools, like the Content-Aware tools of your dreams. But it does give you that very minimal set of features, and it can make them more productive through the addition of your favorite extensions.

Adobe’s new features-for-every-budget program has plenty of powers to keep the pros happy. The FREE version of Photoshop Elements includes basic photo-editing features. Its interface is similar to Photoshop’s, but it has fewer choices, especially in image-editing areas like selections, gradients, and layers.

The new features of Photoshop CC (2019) include the new editing tool, Clarity. This new tool will allow the user to add clarity to images, and blend lighting and shadows together. Photoshop CC (2019) also allows for image editing using the new tool, Structure. This tool will allow the user to create a more realistic image of a scene. The tool will also allow the user to use the shadows and lighting to better blend the photo into the background. This tool will also allow the user to create designs with brushes that simulate the look of textures. The new feature also allows the user to adjust the levels and other editing tools to better indicate the colors in a photo.

The new workflow of Share for Review (beta) enables Photoshop users to easily collaborate without leaving Photoshop, and with a right click they can open a new window or tab for viewing in their browser. This feature replaces Edit in Place, and Open in Place, enabling users to edit content at various stages and customise collaborative versions of the original.

With the Apple Pencil you can – in a snap – modify an image or even use the keyboard to draw in sections. You can even work with real-time feedback on text, to easily correct misspellings or insert captions in your images.

As mentioned earlier besides the Fill tool it also has the Gradient tool which allows you to reduce the opacity of particular areas of an image to create a die fade like effect on a background. I wasn’t able to use the Gradient tool with other tools that I need to like the Adjustment or Layer Mask. The Gradient tool is incredibly simple to use and easy to understand, making this a great tool to learn if you are new to Photoshop.

If all you need to do with a Photoshop document is resize an image the Image on a Canvas tool is more than sufficient. The Image on a Canvas tool allows you to drag the canvas to resize your image, and them click the tool to lock the canvas and prevent you from pixelling your image. The tool works beautifully and is one of the fastest tools I’ve used to resizing an image.

The picture library is a program that allows you to share images with your own friends and family. The picture library is in no way as powerful as Adobe Photoshop but it is still a fairly useful program with an effective interface. I love the library interface’s ability to place your pictures in folders so you can keep everything organized. And the organization of images is done so that you can have more than one image of a particular subject as opposed to the Organizer tool in Adobe Photoshop which is a vast program.

I find Adobe Photoshop to be a good program, but there are a few things it does that I hate. The first on the list is that the Fill tool is awful. It’s pixellated on anything that isn’t a solid color, so not all colors will look great. Plus there is no access to smart use of masking or layers like you can with other photo editors like Darktable.

Switching back to “true” PS would lock you into Windows, and we’re not sure that’s a good idea now. Still, until there’s a better alternative, if you do need to go back, don’t be afraid to try Elements. It’s a free upgrade for anyone who owns Photoshop, and it’s a surprisingly capable and usable program in its own right.

New workflow features that streamline the most common editing tasks, such as using the object precision, and use of a remapping box to make 3D remappings easier to visualize and work with.
